Fostering Frequently Askes questions (FAQ)
Please read through the commonn questions below that we are regularly asked by potential foster carers.
Will it cost me any money if I volunteer to become a Foster Carer? Our foster carers generally only provide food for the greyhound in their care. However if this isn't possible an arrangement can be negotiated.
How long will I have a foster dog for?
Anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending on how long it takes to find a potential adoptee.
Will I get attached to my foster dog?
Possibly. "Foster Fail" is a term we use where a foster carer falls hopelessly in love with their charge and decides to adopt! However most of our foster carers already have their own pets when volunteering, and they understand that they will only have a greyhound foster dog for a short time. They take great joy and satisfaction in seeing their charges move on into loving forever homes.
Do I have to provide anything? No. We will provide a bed, lead, muzzle, collar, etc. Foster carers generally only provide food (and love!).
Are there any restrictions regarding the type of house I live in?If you are renting you need to have landlord approval to have a dog. Other than that, you need a secure premises to ensure the dog cannot get out.
