About Greyhound Connections
Greyhound Connections is a volunteer run, not-for-profit charity dedicated to finding forever homes for retired, rescued and non-racing greyhounds. We work with anyone needing to find a new home for a greyhound, including individuals, pet owners, pounds, and greyhound breeders, trainers and owners. We are proud of the positive working relationships we have developed with greyhound breeders, trainers and owners, and our work with them to re-home their retired and non-racing greyhounds with best-suited adoptive families. Breeders, trainers and owners have vast experience and knowledge of each greyhound's history, including their behaviour, upbringing, likes and dislikes, and medical history. We aim to connect adoptive families with the greyhound's breeder, trainer or owner so that the knowledge can be shared, as well as the breeder, trainer or owner being able to follow the greyhound's journey into pet life. We are proud to have re-homed many greyhounds since our inception in 2016, and look forward to continue helping all greyhounds into the future.
Our stance Regarding greyhound racing
At Greyhound Connections we only do one thing - we rehome retired, rescued and ex-racing greyhounds into loving families as pets. We do not engage in politics, advocacy or protest, and we maintain a policy of not engaging in debate regarding the ethics of greyhound racing. Our non-judgmental stance ensures that owners and trainers are comfortable in approaching us to help them rehome their dogs on retirement from racing. Some of our volunteers maintain active relationships with members of the greyhound racing industry, which further helps us to nurture positive working relationships.
In recent years the media has reported cases of cruelty and inappropriate practices in the greyhound racing industry in Australia. Clearly not all people do the right thing when it comes to animal welfare and we encourage anyone to report acts of animal cruelty to the police.
